Job Overview

We are looking for a dependable and hardworking Grounds Maintenance Cemetery Operative to join our team at Edmonton Cemetery. This role is essential in ensuring the cemetery is maintained to a high standard, with key responsibilities including grave digging and general groundskeeping, all carried out in line with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out manual grave digging and preparation in a safe, respectful, and efficient manner.

• Maintain cemetery grounds through tasks such as lawn mowing, hedge trimming, litter removal, and general landscaping.

• Operate grounds maintenance machinery and tools safely and responsibly.

• Support the installation and maintenance of gravesites and memorials.

• Adhere strictly to health and safety guidelines and company procedures.

• Promptly report any maintenance concerns or safety hazards to supervisors.

• Interact professionally and respectfully with colleagues, funeral directors, and members of the public.

Requirements

• Previous experience in grounds maintenance or similar manual labour roles is desirable.

• Physically fit and capable of carrying out tasks such as digging and operating tools/machinery.

• Solid understanding of health and safety practices, particularly related to grave digging and outdoor maintenance.

• Reliable, with a strong work ethic and keen attention to detail.

• Good communication skills and a cooperative attitude toward teamwork.
