Gardener Blatherwycke
Main Purpose of the Role:
You will be responsible for all general maintenance tasks related to the garden including planting new trees
and plants, conducting regular pruning and advising management of cost-effective methods. You should
know how to use and maintain landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers and fertilizers.
Ultimately, you will make sure our gardens and green spaces are always healthy and beautiful.
You will also be responsible for undertaking and upkeeping repair tasks at the interior and exterior of the
family estate. We’ll rely on you to keep our facilities in perfect condition by doing various odd jobs.
This is a varied hands-on role. You must be willing to work in all weather conditions, handle some power
tools and garden machinery. Some heavy lifting may also be involved.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Maintain and grow the garden to ensure it meets specific requirements and expectations, for
example seasonal plants
• Prune and trim trees, bushes and shrubbery
• Mow, trim and fertilize green spaces
• Perform basic maintenance such as managing weed control and leaf raking
• Plant and nurture new trees, flowers, and various plants
• Service all garden equipment and machinery
• Maintain a clean garden by clearing rubbish and litter from the garden and grounds
• Provide guidance to management on matters related to the garden
• Pest-control to prevent damage to plants
• Perform basic tasks including painting, decorating and filling crevices
• Changing light bulbs and fuses and ensuring other fixtures and fittings are in good working order
• Minor plumbing and carpentry
• Moving or assembling furniture or equipment
• Managing maintenance repairs, including the detection and reporting of major maintenance repairs
• Maintain the cleanliness of outside spaces such as driveways, emptying bins and clearing gutters
• Exercising trained gun dogs. You will be required to attend the Estate on the weekends to attend to
the dogs.
• Any reasonable ad hoc tasks as requested by a member of the family or Estates Director
