Head of Business Development: FM Services

Salary and commission negotiable within the range of £55,000 - £80,000 (commission to be confirmed)

A nationally recognised Grounds Maintenance and Estate Services company is seeking an ambitious, intuitive, and dedicated Head of Business Development to propel their business to new heights.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead and shape the sales team in line with their vision, with the option to bring in new team members if required. Compensation and incentives can be discussed and agreed upon during the interview process, placing a significant focus on rewarding strong performance.

Working in tandem with the Bid Writer, the Head of Business Development will be responsible for submitting tenders and presentations, securing contracts across various sectors such as Soft Services, Ground Maintenance, FM works, Social Housing, Regional Social Landlords, and Housing Associations.

Sales-oriented individual who can operate independently
Proficient in building and leading an effective team to ensure successful contract acquisitions
Strategic thinker with excellent networking abilities and industry knowledge
Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the business development function
  • Manage the existing team (ensure that everyone is utilized, even during quiet periods); grow the team as required
  • Create/Maintain/Pre qualify top 3 to 500 list of targets
  • Oversee the whole commission structure for the business eg. Motivate the CMs/CRMs to upsell
  • Responsible for Social Media / Website marketing
  • Head the bid team/process to ensure early responses
  • Keep an eye on existing customers / look for opportunities
  • Look at areas for expansion eg. Could be a product/service geographical area or diversification


Qualifications and Experience:

Proven track record in business development, sales, and presentations
Experience in bidding for public sector tenders
Strong negotiation and persuasion skills
Industry knowledge in FM and Grounds Maintenance is advantageous
Exceptional leadership and communication abilities
