Sole Gardener/Maintenance Person
One bedroom fully equipped apartment available, not suitable for a family but would accommodate a working partner.
Should be experienced in garden management and propagating with at least 5 year’s experience. Opportunity to work with owner and come up with new ideas. Garden approximately 2 acres.
Important to be able to work on own and be able to put their own stamp on garden.
Enjoy working as part of a small, friendly, family-like team which consists of a PA, Cleaner & live-in housekeeper. Must be a dog friendly person and have a clean Driving Licence.
Hours: 7.30pm – 4.30pm
Coffee break – 10.00 – 10.30
Lunch: 1pm – 1.30pm
Annual Leave – 22 days
Principal Duties Include:
Gardening:
- Working closely with the principal in planning daily/monthly/seasonal duties.
- Greenhouse Management
- Caring for raised bed vegetable garden – crop rotation etc
- Caring for flower beds.
- Clipping all hedging.
- Weeding, dead heading, pruning, cutting back, planting and watering.
- Looking after flower pots and bulbs/tubers, watering weekends when required.
- Maintaining the lawns – cutting using ride on mowers, strimming etc
- Leaf blowing/raking, digging, managing compost/mulching.
- Chopping logs for house
- Propagation of plants
- Topping up of Bird Feeders twice a week
- Monitoring Irrigation
- Power washing paths/driveway
- Requires Chainsaw and Spray Certificates
- To be able to prioritise work
- Maintenance of machinery and liaising with garden contractors
Caretaking:
- Support the household team in the property when required.
- Provide basic DIY for a range of jobs on property.
- Complete security checks and ensure house and all garden gates are secure.
- Check on house/property when the principal is away.
General Duties:
- Occasional chauffeuring
- Valet cars on a monthly basis
- Must ensure that annual leave is not taken at the same time as live-in housekeeper
