Profile and Qualities

The Assistant Head Groundsman will possess the following attributes, among others:

• Qualities to facilitate a successful transition to the Head Groundsman role in the future
• Self-motivated
• Proactive with a hands-on approach
• Strong interest in the development of the grounds
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience within a reputable organization
• Proficient manager of both people and situations with strong leadership skills
• Ability to take on responsibility and make prompt, accurate decisions
• Logical and detail-oriented with a rational mindset
• Unlikely to be younger than 25 years old
• Knowledgeable in horticulture, turf management, and irrigation systems
• Certified at NVQ Level 3, preferably Level 4, or hold an HND in a related field
• Possess PA1, PA2, and PA6 spraying licenses
• Additional qualifications like a tractor license, health and safety certification, chainsaw operation, and first aid training are desirable
• Valid driver's license
• Proficient in using computers

Principal Responsibilities

• Assist the grounds maintenance department at Smith’s Lawn during the polo season as directed by the Head Groundsman
