Job Description

Role Title: Housing Grounds Maintenance Services Working Supervisor

Role Family: Operational Services

Location: Tandridge District (base in Oxted or Caterham)

Grade: TA2/M1

Duration/Hours: 37 Hours per week

Main Purpose

To efficiently and effectively manage the in-house grounds maintenance team maintaining sites included in the Housing Revenue Account (HRA), ensuring work is carried out to the required standard and in a safe manner while complying with all relevant legislation. This role involves hands-on operational tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and assign tasks for the HRA sites
  • Manage and update council site data for HRA
  • Respond to enquiries regarding grounds maintenance management
  • Manage daily operations of the grounds maintenance service
  • Produce work schedules and deliver toolbox talks
  • Audit and inspect quality of work by the in-house team
  • Manage and ensure completion of scheduled works
  • Manage additional works and quality assurance
  • Budget management and KPI reporting
  • Communicate with customers and Housing Officers about completed works
  • Allocate daily work tasks to the work force
  • Monitor and manage Health and Safety compliance
  • Maintain equipment and arrange for repairs
  • Support operations as needed

Additionally,

  • Collaborate with other managers, supervisors, and officers for effective asset management
  • Utilize the council’s computerized system and assist in service provision administration
  • Conduct routine inspections of council play equipment
  • Support Parks and Open Spaces Officer as required
  • Assist the Council's Arboriculture Officer in managing tree stock on Housing Land
  • Support Head of Environment in service management when needed

Educated to GCSE Level in Maths and English

ROSPA or equivalent in playground inspections

Horticultural Qualification

ISOHH managing safety or willingness to undertake this qualification

Previous experience of working in a Grounds Maintenance Environment at se

Lantra or equivalent qualifications in:

Hedge Cutting

Brush cutters

Use of Powered Horticultural Machinery

MO1 Tractor qualification

Chainsaw Qualification

Good IT and administrative skills

Full driving licence (Manual) including trailer towing.
