📝 Role Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Groundsman to assist the Head Groundsman in maintaining and developing outdoor spaces to the highest standards. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone proactive, reliable, and passionate about grounds care, with potential to progress into a future Head Groundsman position. 🌱

👤 Candidate Profile & Key Qualities

The ideal candidate will bring:

✅ A passion for grounds development and outdoor maintenance
✅ A proactive and hands-on work ethic
✅ Strong leadership and team management skills
✅ Confidence in taking initiative and making timely decisions
✅ A logical, detail-focused approach
✅ Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in a similar setting
✅ Solid understanding of horticulture, turf management, and irrigation systems
✅ Competence in operating relevant tools and machinery
✅ Excellent communication and a professional attitude

🎓 Qualifications & Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 in Sports Turf Management (Level 4 or HND preferred)
• A1, PA2, and PA6 spraying certifications
• Tractor licence and other machinery skills (desirable)
• Basic IT/computer skills
• Health & Safety, Chainsaw, and First Aid certifications (desirable)
• Valid UK Driver’s Licence
• Typically aged 25+ due to experience requirements

💼 Principal Responsibilities

• Assist with grounds maintenance at Smith’s Lawn throughout the polo season
•  Follow instructions from the Head Groundsman to deliver work to high standards
• Maintain turf, pitches, and landscaping features
• Operate irrigation systems and carry out seasonal upkeep as required

💷 Salary:

£27,000 – £35,000 per annum (Depending on Experience)
